It’s slipping through my fingers. Steady now like water, only it’s not a trickle it’s a fucking flood. Time will always press forward, engulfing this very present moment just as quickly as it arrived. Oh, but I can tread though, now, so let’s go with it ;)
On Taking Care
I know we’re not all reading the care instructions on these clothes, y’all. Ignorance is only bliss if you’re not accidentally shrinking that vintage wool J.Crew sweater you love so much. To separate the dry-cleaning drop-offs from the hand-wash-only knits is a courageous act of self-care. So when I realized my vintage cashmere Jil Sander sweater vest was missing from my closet, I knew I had left it at the cleaners by my old apartment. My rescue mission was successful, and I explained to the man behind the counter that I had moved a few months ago consequently forgetting to pick up. Our final transaction closed, and he reminded me to take care.
I obliged by setting aside some time for a task that felt both meditative and meaningful: washing a few special garments by hand. These weren’t just clothes; they held memories—each fabric telling a story of where I’d been, who I’d met, and moments remembered.
I filled the tub with cool water, adding a touch of delicate detergent. As my fingers submerged into the water, I could feel the soft silks and linen between my palms, gliding gently through the liquid. It was a tactile ritual—washing away the remnants of wear but keeping the essence of the garments intact. I moved slowly, carefully, as if giving these pieces the respect they deserved. Once they were dry, I folded them carefully, appreciating their softness, and walked to my closet. Mindfully, I placed each item in its designated spot, ensuring they were organized just the way I like it. The closet, a haven of personal style, felt complete with their return.
on Skincare
I am at Senti Senti because I spent way too much time on TikTok. I’m plotting my way to perfect skin (again). A couple of years back when my friend Graham introduced me to the Chinatown location, FKA oo35mm, my inflamed, dehydrated, and congested skin was desperate for repair. I made a handful of pickups but the CosRx Bee Propolis Moisturizer is the only product from the lot that’s been able to earn its keep still. No product will replace the efficacy of medical-grade skincare and treatments, but – I’m newly obsessed with I’m From’s Mugwort Essence … in a way I can’t explain, just see for yourself.
The results: hydrated, glassy, drinks- a-minimum-of-64-oz-a-day, skin. Also love: Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Deep Cleansing Oil – it’s fragrance-free and leaves my skin feeling supple. Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF50+ PA++++ – I get it now ….. light-weight and cool to the touch, and it’s replaced my summer holy-grail EltaMD UV Daily Broad Spectrum.
I genuinely enjoy sharing my advice and recommendations, if you ever need to talk skincare, don’t be shy - leave a comment!
Les Umbrellas de Cherbourg
Catherine Deneuve’s excruciating vocals in this 1964 French musical make for a sonically blinding experience. consider spending your next free hour and a half ogling over insanely dreamy colors (cc: sizzling hot magenta pinks, deep turquoise, pale aquas and faded periwinkle). Stoned, optional.
